Villiers Park Educational Trust

The brief:

Harnessing a century of vital experience, Villiers Park is a leading social mobility charity supporting young people aged 11-19 from deprived and under-represented backgrounds. They help their beneficiaries improve academic outcomes and empower them to unleash their full potential, becoming agents of positive change.

Though Villiers Park had, a decade earlier, been raising comfortably in excess of £1m / annum, in recent years, due to staff turnover and a lack of systems and processes, its income had dipped to around £800,000 / annum. Under new, dynamic leadership, and with its programmes heavily oversubscribed, the charity now wished to scale to meet the rising demand and need.

Our approach:

In his role as an Associate at More Partnership, Paul consolidated and simplified the charity’s programming in and outlined its plans for growth in an investment case for support. This formed the basis of an ambitious new campaign, ‘Beyond Barriers’ to more than double the reach of its programmes, to 5,000 young people every year by 2030.  Paul also provided detailed plans for the successful execution of these activities, and had to work closely with trustees to gain their buy-in. Additionally, he played a major support role in helping the charity to recruit a new Head of Fundraising who could make these ambitious goals a reality.

What they said:

"Paul has helped us to focus the opportunities for growth and the systems and people we will need to help us realise our fundraising potential. Having his experience and knowledge of the wider fundraising sector has brought really useful external perspective.

He has been terrific to work with, really listening to what we needed, and where we are, as an organisation – and he quickly became part of the team. He’s worked closely with me, our senior leadership team and Trustees, to develop and embed this process so that we have what we need to take it forward.” Gaby Sumner, Chief Executive
